Good news for a 50D users like me! Canon has posted a firmware update for 50D digital SLR. Firmware Version 1.0.7 incorporates the following changes.
- Corrects a phenomenon where captured images may tend to appear somewhat magenta depending on the shooting scene.
- Fixes incorrect indications on the Arabic, Romanian, Spanish, and Ukrainian menu screens.
Firmware Version 1.0.7 is for cameras with firmware up to Version 1.0.6. If the camera’s firmware is already Version 1.0.7, it is not necessary to update the firmware.

I’m not quite sure. But since its an update its ok as long as you properly made the right procedure. You may want to read the Instructions first and back-up the said firmware before proceeding. I may also suggest that you may contact the said company regarding on this matter. Or if your camera is still covered by the warranty, its better to bring it to the costumer center.
I never tried to update my 50D though since I’m not that very oc and its almost a year to me and I quite like the performance.
Thanks for visiting the site!
