Modern smartphones are designed to offer the kind of functionality you would expect to find on a laptop computer, combined with the imaging capabilities of a digital camera and the storage capacity of a portable media device. They should allow you to find where you are and where you should be going with built-in GPS and should make it simple for you to browse, download and install software and applications that are both practical and easy to use.

Thankfully the current generation of smartphones like the Apple iPhone, the Nokia N97 and the HTC Hero all aim to do all this and more. Photography is also a big part of the smartphone standard features list, though to be honest some smartphones have underwhelming photographic capabilities at first glance. Though the iPhone 3Gs has an improved 3.2 megpixel camera, it lags behind the competition in terms of image quality and versatility. But when the iPhone and its contemporaries are coupled with decent photography applications, their functionalities and photographic potentials can be extended far beyond the original intentions of their manufacturers.

Pano App
Though some camera phones have built-in panoramic capture software, the iPhone does not. This application rectifies that by allowing you to take multiple pictures of a scene and then sit back as the app does all the work and stitches them together into a seamless panorama. Some truly breathtaking results can be achieved.

Photogene
If you are looking for a powerful image editing app for your iPhone then this is the one to pick. It is like having Photoshop in your pocket and you can tweak and manipulate virtually anything you can imagine after you have captured a picture. You can let your creative side get to work.

SplashPhoto
This application is compatible with various smartphone, including Nokia handset using the Symbian operating system. If you have got tons of photos stored on your phone but are not pleased with the way in which the basic software allows you to view and organise said photos, this is the app for you. What is more, SplashPhoto can load your pictures up to 80% faster than the basic software of your smartphone, which is a big benefit if your phone takes high-resolution images that can take a while to load.

SnapMyLife
This is one of the best mobile applications that lets you share your photos instantly via social networking and blogging sites. It is compatible with BlackBerry smartphones amongst others and it also allows you to view pictures your friends and family have taken on your own phone.

When you are searching for photography applications, or indeed applications of all kinds, you will want to do so at high speed. You could use the 3G connection on your smartphone, but this may cost you money. If you have a broadband connection in your home and a wireless router you could connect your smartphone using the built-in Wi-Fi for some free surfing and app downloading. This is undoubtedly the cheapest broadband option when you are looking for applications and is usually faster than 3G.

I decided to go wireless after a year when our D-Link router collapsed after the lightning coz’ of typhoon. Yes, lightning can damage our electronics equipment as well as our home appliances. And even our television stuck in the technician for 3 days after its board got burned from power surge.

To continue, let me give you some details about what I got in the market just for Php2, 500 or $52.64. And guess what, I get it from the new Annex Building of SM North, EDSA and its so great to spend time shopping on this mall. The place is so clean and the ambiance is great.

Anyway, The Wireless-G Broadband Router is great for sharing an Internet connection, and connecting all of your computers to each other – without running wires. Don’t ask me why I didn’t get the N+ version instead. HaHa!

Freedom of Wireless - Wireless-G technology creates a fast wireless connection for several computers at once. It’ s easy-to-set-up wireless network lets you access your broadband Internet connection to surf the Web and send email – or connect between computers to share music, photos and other files, or print to your printer. All without wires, from all around your home. No trading cables, no waiting for someone else to finish what they’re doing, no being stuck in one place.

Device Connectivity – It keeps your digital photos or music in one place; share them from any computer on your network. Four built-in 10/100 Ethernet ports make it easy to connect additional wired computers, storage devices, printers, and other wired devices to your network so you can access them from your wireless-enabled computers.

And last but not the least, Security Made Simple – Wireless security and firewall protection designed to help safeguard your home network and computers from most Internet attacks.

I can totally say that WRT54G2 – Wireless-G Broadband Router can help you make your world free of wires. Connection is really fast, easy to install, and most of all – inexpensive!

For more details and product specifications, visit Linksys by Cisco at www.LinksysByCisco.com

Till here and happy browsing!

Now that Google has had a few months to work out any potential kinks in the system, Google Maps is now officially offering YouTube integration. Once you choose to add the video layer from the “more” menu (the same one that’ll get you to Wikipedia), you can check out any videos that have been geotagged!

For those that used the previous add-on version, you’ll find little different. Aesthetically, you’ll notice that the actual video will be cut down (removing the play count and video information) so to make presentation easier, and the videos will appear on the map as a thumbnail instead of a small red dot.

Google Map: You Tube Integration Screenshot

I, for one, can’t wait to see what people start filming because of this. Sure, there might be boring videos here and there of people checking out barren stretches of highway that no one will ever see (which I actually think is kind of neat), but this does provide an opportunity to make the world seem a little bit smaller.

One tip that I can say to you guys if you want to keep updated to the new technology around [...]

One tip that I can say to you guys if you want to keep updated to the new technology around the net better subscribe to them to receive it directly to your email and here’s one that I received that I would like to share to you guys. Its from Chris Crum a staff writer for WebProNews and iEntry Network.

Google has rolled out a new version of homepage customizer iGoogle. They say they’ve rolled it out to all U.S. users, but that would include me, and I have seen no signs of it on my page, so apparently “all” is a little strong. Hopefully I will be included soon, because being a fan of iGoogle, I would find the new features quite useful.

The biggest of those features is the “canvas view” that comes with it, which allows you to view the contents of some gadgets without leaving the iGoogle page. For example with the old version if you want to look at your gmail account from iGoogle, you can see your inbox, but if you click on a message you will be directed to the actual page at Gmail. From what I understand (I’m still awaiting testing for myself) you will now be able to read your messages without leaving the page you’re on. They have incorporated this ability with a variety of different iGoogle gadgets:

The New and Improved iGoogle

Another key feature of the new version is the left navigation, which will allow you to get to any gadget from an organized menu on the left side of your iGoogle homepage (as seen in the screenshot below. This is a huge improvement in design as far as I’m concerned, because it stands now, I have rearranged the gadgets around my page i don’t know how many times, and can still not really come up with an organization that I really like (and have to look around for a while to find them sometimes). Having a navigation menu on the left with a canvas view for gadgets will be much more convenient.

I only hope that the gadget developers crank out the canvas view compatibility so the number of supported gadgets increases quickly. Google expects them to. First though, I’d just like to be able to see my own version of the new iGoogle.

Update: Well, I’m seeing the left side navigation now, but I’m still expriencing some hiccups with the new iGoogle. I got the canvas view to work on one click, but after that, nothing seems to want to go to it. My Gmail gadget isn’t working at all now. I’ll give it a little time and see what happens.

Microsoft’s upcoming Windows 7 might just be the salve to soothe Windows Vista ouchies, but what Windows fans really want is something that hasn’t yet been announced. Mary-Jo of All About Microsoft says that internally, there’s a project called Singularity that’s designed to solve all kinds of shortcomings in current operating systems, upending the traditional way of thinking in favor of something dramatically different. And while Singularity won’t be released to the public, Midori, which takes a lot of cues from it, will.

According to Microsoft 2.0:

“There’s a seemingly related (related to Singularity) project under development at Microsoft which has been hush-hush. That project, codenamed ‘Midori,’ is a new Microsoft operating-system platform that supposedly supersedes Windows. Midori is in incubation, which means it is a little closer to market than most Microsoft Research projects, but not yet close enough to be available in any kind of early preview form.

“What’s also interesting about Midori is who is running the project. One-time Gates heir-apparent Eric Rudder is heading up the effort. Midori is being incubated under Chief Research and Strategy Officer Craig Mundie’s wing. ‘Everyone under him (under Rudder on Midori) is a multi-year vet, has a super fancy title, and is going back to their roots and writing code like they probably did in the old days,’ one Microsoft tipster told me.

“When and how Microsoft will roll out Midori is still a mystery. But it sounds like the company thinks the project is serious enough to dedicate a considerable amount of time/people/resources to it.”

So it won’t be in Windows 7, but from the sounds of it, Midori might be far enough along to make it to Windows 8. Will they still keep calling it Windows to hold onto the brand, or will they call it something different to illustrate how dramatically separate it is from what we’re currently using?
